No member of our club loved Pigmy Pouters more than Johnny Neu. For longer than almost all of our current members have belonged to the club Johnny regularly attended our shows and meetings. He recently said that he had been coming to the shows for forty years.

No member contributed more than Johnny when help was needed to conduct our annual show. He would help steward birds to the judging cages, serve on judging panels, and often he judged the entire show. Johnny knew Pigmys -he truly liked to admire, handle, and judge the birds.

When not officially serving the club you could most often find Johnny seated directly in front of the judging pens picking his favorites and predicting the winners. Many of us seated there with him learned a great deal about judging Pigmies from listening and comparing our choices with Johnny's. He dearly loved to predict the eventual winners, and was most often right on the money.

During the club's lean financial years Johnny was always near the head of the queue line to plunk down a healthy contribution to help the club. His advice and opinions were sought and respected on many club matters. All Johnny's concern and support for the American Pigmy Pouter Club is all the more remarkable when we consider the fact that, due to local restrictions, he had been unable to maintain a loft or breed any birds for the last thirty or so years.

When show time rolls around each year Johnny will be sorely missed. During the judging "we'll keep a chair open for you Johnny, right down front and center".
